JAZZ JACKRABBIT 2
his time through, Jazz enlists the aid of his fetching brother Spaz, a clever addition to the cast of characters who, in my opinion, out-and-out steals the show. I played through the game twice, once as each character, and enjoyed all the special touches infused into Spaz. He is a bit off his rocker, something made evident by his side-splitting idle animations, and he has a wonderfully demented personality. Yet he is also faster, can jump farther than his sibling. Interestingly, the differences between the two characters are more than cosmetic. The levels have been designed so Jazz is unable to reach all the areas; replaying as Spaz will reveal additional secrets. Each character has been given a set of special moves, my favorite of which is the karate-style kick Spaz can perform. Pressing down followed by jump sends him screaming through rogues like a hot knife through butter, and will have you in stitches. Jazz can hover for short distances, and has a special jump that sends him higher into the air, helpful for those situations when a little extra altitude is required. Pressing jump a second time while Spaz is in the air will vault him even higher.
